Welcome to My Sunday Scaries!
My name is Shawn and I’m a 30 something guy living in Central Indiana. I’m a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) who does not do any taxes (I’m not kidding, please keep taxes away from me). I spent 6 years in Public Accounting starting in 2015 and leaving at the end of 2021. Since then, I’ve moved into the private sector.
Outside of my career, I’ve been married since 2021 and welcomed twin boys in 2023. I thought I knew what unconditional love was prior to having kids, but I sure learned a whole new level of unconditional love watching them grow into toddlers.
I’m a big sports fan (I generally watch just about any sport). However, I fell in love with soccer at age 4. It’s been a huge part of my life since and I certainly expect that to continue. This includes playing from age 4 all through college. I still play, however, my hamstrings prefer I do not.
I also enjoy playing video games (FIFA has been a constant for me, shocking I know). Throughout my life, video games have not only been an escape but also a way to connect with my friends as we’ve all lived apart for a long period of time.
So why My Sunday Scaries?
I’ve always been career oriented, which is great. I remember how determined I was in college to find a place that I can grow and develop my skills, make money and set myself up for a bright future. Naturally, being someone in Public Accounting, you develop a Type A personality. I devoted a lot of time and energy into my career. In turn, I was almost always stressed out and thinking about so many different things. This included both career and personal things. Far too many times, I laid awake on Sunday nights thinking about anything and everything my mind could find. I’ve always wondered, how many other people think, worry, stress about the same things? Does talking about it help me AND possibly helps others?
